During class today we spent some time on the benefits of the SAMR model. The SAMR model looks at integrating technology using Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. It was very helpful to learn this model and we discussed examples in groups. We also looked at the idea of an ED-Camp. An Ed-Camp is a very informal, user-driven, free activity that acts as a more accessible conference. We conducted an Ed-Camp in class, and formed groups based on similar interests. I chose to discuss if aliens are real. It was a great activity and everyone in the group was very engaged. Our topic covered a lot of ground and ideas, but we still were able to bring it back to the idea of education, and how to incorporate it in the classroom. We found our topic easily applied to all subject areas.
