This week for my free inquiry project, I decided to go on a hike to the Goldstream Trestle. I wanted to hike the trestle because it has gorgeous views, and it does not take up too much time to complete, which was helpful because I did not have a lot of spare time. It was a perfect day for the hike because there was a lot of mist and fog on the Malahat, and the weather was not too hot, nor too cold. I went early in the morning so there wouldn’t be a lot of other people on the trail, and it would feel more isolated. After this hike, I was astounded at how invigorated I felt. Even though I had just hiked up a mountain, I felt so alive, and energized. I believe being in nature rejuvenates me, and I always come away feeling mentally, physically, and spiritually recharged. I am excited to pursue this inquiry project, as I believe it will be very beneficial for my overall well-being. Next week during my hike, I would like to incorporate some aspect of mindfulness. I hope mindfulness will ad another layer to the experience. My goals for next week are to find research on mindfulness and hiking, as well as look at methods to apply mindfulness during my hike.
