My initial Free Inquiry question was to learn more about sailing, and to learn the skills necessary for sailing small sailboats in the ocean. After doing some preliminary research, I discovered that the costs associated with learning to sail are quite large. Some programs can cost around $800, which does not make a lot of sense financially for me at the moment. I also discovered that there are more affordable lesson through Uvic, but the lessons/programs take place in the spring and summer.
So after doing some preliminary research, I have decided to shift my focus for the Free Inquiry project. I liked the idea of exploring something in nature and something that challenges my abilities mentally/physically. The reason I chose sailing initially is because I love being on the water/nature, and I think learning a skill that involves overcoming obstacles would be very useful for every day life. So I have decided to change my Inquiry project to explore the impact of hiking once a week on my mental and physical wellbeing. It will still tackle the idea of overcoming obstacles both physically and mentally, while still incorporating nature and being in the great outdoors.
