Today in class we reviewed the FIPPA guidelines, and the documentary “Most Likely to Succeed”. It brought up interesting discussions on what to be mindful of when posting things to social media sites and the importance of consent. It also highlighted inquiry based learning implemented in schools and the possible shift from more traditional school systems.
We also learned more about creating our wordpress websites, and discussed our free and technology based inquiry projects. So far for my personal inquiry project I am interested in learning how to sail. It is something I have always wanted to learn because I love being on the water and I think it would be very mentally beneficial to learn to overcome obstacles and use critical thinking. For the Ed Tech Inquiry, I am very interested in social media and how it impacts mental health and wellbeing. I think it would be interesting to look at cyber bullying and how that component plays a role in the classroom. I think alongside this topic it is important to learn how to create a safer space for students in the realm of social media and the classroom, especially those from marginalized communities.
